Regardless of commemorating on the exact date of Maguindanao massacre on November 23, students of Bulacan State University ( BulSU ) still remember the victims of the tragedy by wearing black shirt, marching in the campus and lighting candles on the 26th of November. Head organizers Youth for Human Rights and CAL Local Student Council decided to carry out the commemoration on Wednesday for the participants to be able to wear black shirts, also considering their financial concerns. “Una inisip namin na ‘yong 23 is Sunday. Tapos isa na ring dahilan kung bakit namin ginawang Wednesday kasi washday ibig sabihin pwedeng mag-black (shirt) ‘yong mga estudyante,” explains Brix Pagtalunan, Governor of College of Arts and Letters (CAL). Among those who participated in the activity are students of CAL , members of publication in BulSU , Partido Pagkakaisa ng Demokratikong Mag-aaral ( PDM ) , Gabriela Youth , Hiraya Kolektib , Journalism Society and Student Christian Movement. Carrying banners demanding justice for the 58 killed in the Maguindanao massacre, the activity intended to remind people the gruesome murder victims of the tragedy which includes 32 members of the media and also to protest to end impunity in the country. The march starts at the gate three of the university and ends in Heroes Park wherein leaders of organizations and publications speak for the standpoint of their group regarding to the delayed justice for the victims, lighting of candles comes after.

Upholding championship title, Bulacan State University (BulSU) once again join the 2nd Bulacan Collegiate Athletic Association (BCAA) that started 17th of November and expected to finish on December 03 at Malolos Sports and Convention Center. Sports games which comprise of Basketball, Volleyball, Chess, Badminton and Table tennis are currently playing by BulSU, Centro Escolar University (CEU), La Consolacion University of the Philippines (LCUP), Bulacan Polytechnic College (BPC), STI Balagtas, Baliuag University (BU) and other colleges around Bulacan. “ Target ulit naming mag-champion ngayon. Systematized by the Municipality of Malolos, Mayor Christian Natividad aims to accumulate a Bulacan version of National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) that will develop skills of Bulakenyo athletes in various sports categories. Moreover, the event purposely advocates preventing the youth to engage in illegal drugs and other criminal cases. As of November 29, the leading teams for the championship battle are from BulSU, CEU, BPC and BU. The game starts at 9AM onwards every day until December 3. The winners will be given cash prizes, medals and trophy for the overall champion team. |
